Ok ok... So it's been a while again... BUT, here I am. I had such a great week!!! Last week on Thursday I had my first quarter final. I did really well, but it did take me 3 hours to complete! Then on Friday morning at 4:50 AM, yeah you heard me... 4:50 AM, I went to the airport to pick up Chris. It was worth it! I really missed him. It was so great having him here. I hadn't seen him in almost 3 months. Another great reason it was nice having him here, was that I got to practice my Chinese. I got to show Chris that being here has been so good for me. I was actually translating between him and my family. It was a lot of fun.

While Chris was here we went to a bunch of hot spots in Taipei. We went to Taipei 101, Sogo (a Japanese department store), Shida Night Market, Shilin Night Market and the Taipei zoo. And we ate a bunch of food! We had dan bing, dou jiang, cong you bing, zhen zu nai cha... in english that translates to: egg burrito, soy milk, green onion pancake and tapioca milk tea. We didn't eat anything too weird, but I did get him to try stinky tofu! Yum! Hmmm and he had gelatinous pigs blood and an oyster egg omelet. All really yummy stuff... minus the pig's blood.

Overall, it was nice to hang out with my boyfriend again. I missed being with him and I missed hanging out. It was something I needed. I still love it here in Taiwan, but it's always nice to get a visit from home! Now I have to wait until May to see someone else! My break is almost over and I have to get ready for school again. It starts up Monday! Jia You!

I hope you had a nice visit Chris! I already miss you!

Lantern Festival!

So yesterday was the big day for the Lantern festival. I went to Sun Yat-Sen Memorial Hall to see a huge display of the lanterns. I thought it was pretty cool. There were many levels of lanterns. Some were made by random organizations, high school students and even middle school students. Overall, I thought they all looked pretty good. The theme this year was the ox because it's the year of the ox. But not to worry... there were a few random non-ox ones as well. I have to say though, this picture with the rhino in it was probably my favorite one. All the animals looked like they were having so much fun! Hehe.

Yesterday was the official last day of the Chinese New Year celebration. In the good 'ole days, (wayyyyy back) Chinese New Year was celebrated for about a lunar month. The last day was signified by a full moon. On that last day, the Lantern festival was held. And then on that day, you have to eat tang yuan...a glutinous rice ball thing with stuff in the middle...in a soup. I know it's kinda funny looking..but it's tradition...and it's quite a yummy one too! Anyways...back to the Lantern festival. I went there with my cousins and took a bunch of pictures for you to see. So check out the new album titled lantern festival! (Give me at least a day after this post to get them all uploaded...my internet is still extremely slow!)

So the last week and half were really not that fun. I got sick again. I sounded like a man! But despite me being sick and all...I did do a few things. Yesterday was the first day I felt really good. I wasn't constantly blowing my nose and coughing...so I decided to go out and have some fun. I went to an international book fair! Hahaha! I went to see if they had anything from the US. When I got there, I found out there was a whole section for anime...whoo! I went to check out the "American" section. It was kinda lame. All they had were books that were made into movies. And they were the recent movies too, like Sex and the City, Devil Wears Prada, Lord of the Rings and the Harry Potter books. I was kinda disappointed. I was hoping for a huge selection. Oh well. But then I got to go to the Anime Hall. Hahahaha! It was crazy in there. It was like a Taiwan Comic-con. There were people dressed up and huge booths with lines for just getting in the area to look at the merchandise. I of course stood in one of the lines just so I could check it out. And I couldn't resist getting a little something from one of my favorite animes! I looked around to see what else they had in the Hall, but there were just too many people and too many things that I didn't know. So I decided to leave.

Since I had been out all day, I decided to go out to Friday's. I had to get a good ole cheeseburger! It was excellent! Yum American goodness. It was a pretty long day, so after dinner I headed home. Instead of going to bed or anything like that, I watched one of my new favorite shows, Reaper! If you guys haven't seen it, check it out. You might like it. It's a comedy about the devil. After that, I did have to call it a day. Tomorrow I'm going to the Taipei Lantern Festival. I hope to get plenty of pictures of that for y'all to see!

Hmmm.....I realized it's been a while since I've posted anything...so I should get right to it! This week has been a really busy week. I had a midterm on Friday and I had to go to the immigration office to extend my Visa. Then I had a bunch of homework on top of that. But overall, I think everything went well. I don't have much to tell, but after next week I should. The only fun thing I did this week was go to Yakiniku on Monday (that's Japanese BBQ for all you who don't know). It was pretty fun. I got to try something I never had before. I had tongue . Mmmmmm...hahaha. It was actually pretty good. It was fun going with my Japanese friend and having her order everything. I also went with my other friend. I also ate pig feet...hahaha. All of these are normal staples here. I think i'm the only one who thought it was weird. Anyways, I have one more week of school and then I have a two week break for Chinese New Year. I think I'm going to travel to South Taiwan and check it out there. And I've also decided to go to some other touristy places for fun too. So hopefully I do get out there and do some fun stuff. Then I can post a bunch of pictures! :-) Well... I gotta go. Time to go to Hukou!

Ok...so I can't post a video because my Internet won't let me. I'll find a place with a better connection! Instead, I'll leave you with a few pictures. Also, I'll tell you what I did on the January 1, 2009. Hmmm...well, I didn't do too much since I stayed up so late the night before. I went to TGIF the night before just so I could get a fruity drink before the festivities. It was quite yummy. I think this place is becoming my "bar" of choice because I can actually read the menu. ;-) After the fireworks were over, I walked home and then stayed up and watched a movie. Then passed out around 3ish. The next day... I think I woke up around 12ish. I hadn't planned on doing much, but since I had the day off, I decided to go out to a night market. I went with 2 of my cousins to Shilin night market. It was fun. I bought 2 shirts from a place called NET....it's suspiciously similar to the GAP. Haha! Seriously! The store title is exactly like the Gap, but it has Net in the blue box with white letters. Anyways, I got some clothes there really cheap. It was like 400 NT (which is roughly $15 or so). I love sales! While I was at the night market I also played some games. I won 2 small stuffed animals...well actually they are more like stuffed vegetables. I can't get enough of these games. I only go to this night market just so i can play these games...hahaha. And the other thing I did was try the one food that I hadn't had yet in Taiwan...STINKY TOFU!!!! AHHHHH....hahaha. actually it was pretty tasty. I got it barbecued. I was told fried is better, but i figure they taste about the same...and definitely smell just as bad. Then my cousins decided to get "ji pie" haha aka "fried chicken". And I think that was all for that night. I had to get home to study for a test....so that's how my first day of 2009 went down. I hope you all enjoyed your day off too!!!
